Team Representatives


peak time commitment: 7 hours a week

Functional Objective:

  • To develop a successful rugby team(s)
  • To develop a team discipline and spirit which will provide a good base for coaches to coach the team
  • To ensure the team is organized, through clear communication
  • To ensure the team has pride in themselves, their club and their sponsors.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • To attend committee meetings. If unable to, then advise another committee member to give your apologies to the Chairman.
  • To liaise with all other members of the club.
  • To act as MC for after match functions and co-ordinate speeches & other activities
  • To assist with the appointment of all club coaches and managers.
  • To hold a pre-season meeting with coaches and managers advising them on club policies and protocols.
  • To co-ordinate pre-season trials and fixtures for all club teams in consultation with the coach and fixtures
  • To assist coaches and managers with the retention and recruitment of players.
  • To appoint a person, if required, for position of Assistant Club Captain.
  • To prepare a budget for requirements in conjunction with Treasurer.
  • To ensure coaches and managers are aware of competition formats and the length of the season.
  • To ensure coaches and managers are aware of the competition rules regarding their competitions.
  • To collate weekly results and Player of the Day awards
  • To set dates and times for committee meetings in conjunction with the President/Chairman and report on team results at such meetings.
  • To liaise with Club President/Chairman for any special function.
  • To liaise with fixtures with regard to ground closures
  • To make yourself known to all players as their representative and to uphold all club rules.
  • To liaise closely with coaches and managers during the season and advise the committee of any issues that may arise
  • To ensure functions and activities planned by the club committee are communicated to teams.
  • To assist other committee members in their roles.
  • Identify players eligible for bursaries.

Responsibilities during Pre-Season:

  • Meet with the committee to go over your team requirements:
  • Presentation
  • Team ties
  • Team expenses
  • After match functions
  • Provide a list of management and players and their phone numbers/contact information
  • To continue to update that list as needed
  • Distribute the list to all those who need it.
  • Organize player profiles on all players in final selection
  • Complete full match reports for committee/director of media
  • Arrange for sponsors to be at the first match/matches

Responsibilities during Match-Day:

  • Communicate results to appropriate people
  • Attend after match functions
  • Make sure players pay accounts outstanding

Responsibilities during End of Season:

  • Ensure coach submits a report to Committee
  • Write or pass on acknowledgement to those people, clubs, sponsors etc who have assisted during the season
  • Ensure appropriate team players are nominated for BCRU development
  • Ensure player data is up-to-date.
  • Perform end-of-season surveys with players.
